Tips And Techniques

Can you heat a fully cooked spiral ham in the slow cooker? Yes, I highly recommend buying it precooked because it’s faster and convenient. Cooking it in the slow cooker is simply heating it and infusing it with more flavor to take it over the top.

How long to cook slow cooker ham? What temperature to cook ham? Cook it on low for 4 hours.

Only sprinkle half the brown sugar on top at first– Some of it will fall over the side and that’s okay. In the final 30 minutes, sprinkle the remaining garlic powder, ginger powder, brown sugar, red chili flakes (optional) on top. This gives this meat a nice caramelized crust, color and flavor on top.

What size crock pot do I need? For a 6-7 pound ham you will need a 6- quart crock pot or larger.

What to do with the glaze packet from the ham? You can throw it away! You do not need it for this recipe.

You must use cooked ham for this recipe- The instructions will not work for the raw version.
