These are the crispiest and most flavorful wings ever. The slow cooker develops the tender juicy meat, while a few minutes under the broiler crisps them to perfection. They are the perfect appetizer for Game day or the next holiday party you host. These Slow Cooker Honey BBQ Wings and Slow Cooker Grape Jelly Meatballs are also a hearty and popular appetizer to add to your menu.

Combine the following ingredients to make a thick, chunky topping to brush on top of the wings.

    • ½ cup Parmesan cheese- Shredded or grated, Full fat
    • ¼ tbsp Butter- Melted but should not be boiling hot, Unsalted
    • ½-1 tsp Garlic powder- Adjust according to your preference

Why Are My Chicken Wings Soggy? How To Make Crispy Wings?

Broiling the wings in oven, for about 5-10 minutes or until they are crispy and golden brown, is the best way to ensure wings are crispy every single time. Do not skip this step!

Variations For Crispy Baked Garlic Parmesan Wings

Fried wings- Fry them in oil instead of baking them, and then top with the parmesan mixture. This also makes them extra crispy.

Air fryer wings- This allows them to crisp and negates the need to broil the wings.

Add a garnish- Such as fresh chives or parsley for even more flavor and a spot of color.

Add seasoning- Such as Italian, Cajun, Greek, Mexican, or Curry seasoning for a flavor twist.

Make it spicy- Add red pepper flakes, hot sauce, or even cayenne pepper.

Try other cheese- Like blue cheese, feta, mozzarella, cheddar or asiago. The possibilities are endless!

Ranch parmesan garlic wings- Add dry ranch seasoning to the wings before cooking.

Add bacon- Mix in cooked bacon crumbles to the topping mixture for more flavor.

Tips And Techniques For Slow Cooker Chicken Wings

Use unsalted butter- Because this prevents the wings from becoming too salty.

The baking step is NOT optional- This is what makes the tops of the wings so crispy. It is crucial to get the correct texture.

Adjust the amount of garlic- Add more or less depending on your preference.

Serve immediately- This is when the wings are at their crispiest with the best texture!

For the sauce/topping, butter should not be super hot- Because this will cause the cheese to melt, and you do not want it to melt. You want the whole mixture nice and chunky as opposed to gooey and stringy.

Don't skip the sauce at the end! It really takes the flavor over the top.

Use full fat cheese- For the best and richest flavor.

What size crockpot to use? I recommend using a 6 quart or larger crockpot for this recipe so that the wings can spread out and cook evenly.

How to know when the wings are cooked? This takes about 3 hours on high heat or until the chicken is tender and no longer pink.

Line and spray the baking sheet- Because it prevents the wings from sticking, and also makes clean-up a breeze.

Do not overlap wings on the tray- Separate the wings so that they have space to brown and crisp properly. Overlapping the wings will cause them to remain soggy.

    Storage For Garlic Wings

Refrigerate- These taste best when served immediately, but leftovers can be stored in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Freeze- I do not recommend freezing them because the topping will melt right off the wings when reheated.

Reheat- In the microwave or oven or even a toaster oven.
